St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is most often thought of as a mood-elevating herb, but it is also used topically as an anti-inflammatory, wound healing herb. The red hypericin, when properly infused in oil, makes St. John’s Wort a useful external herb as well, particularly to help the pain associated with wounds, minor burns and atopic dermatitis.
